Note that for requesting an OpenStack Virtual Machine (VM) you need to be signed in on the PROBA-V MEP portal by using your PROBA-V distribution portal account or your PROBA-V MEP account.
After receiving your request for a VM, the PROBA-V MEP team will validate your request and provide you a VM when your request is granted.You will receive an e-mail explaining how to access your personal VM.
The PROBA-V MEP provides two different platforms for which a VM can be requested:
a PROBA-V MEP VM in the OpenStack private cloud hosted by VITO.
This VM comes with several pre-installed commandline tools, desktop applications and developer tools which are useful for exploitation of PROBA-V data (e.g. GDAL, QGIS, GRASS GIS, SNAP, Python, etc ...).
Access to the full PROBA-V archive.
Target audiance are scientists and developers developing applications which use PROBA-V data. After the prototyping phase, the PROBA-V MEP processing environment can be used for larger scale processing. The end goal should be an application running on the MEP platform.
- a RSS CloudToolbox VM, hosted by ESA in the RSS cloud.
- Similar to the PROBA-V MEP VM, this VM comes with pre-installed tools for the exploitation of PROBA-V data.
- Access to only a subset of the available PROBA-V dataset.
- Target audiance are university students following image processing classes.
